As of December 27, 2025, there are no new federal stimulus checks approved or scheduled. Despite rumors circulating online and on social media, Congress has not authorized additional stimulus payments, and the Internal Revenue Service has not announced any December relief payments.
The last official stimulus-related payments were connected to the $1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit for 2021 tax returns. Those payments were issued automatically by the IRS between late 2024 and early 2025 for eligible taxpayers who had not claimed the credit. The final deadline to claim that credit was April 15, 2025, and that deadline has passed with no extensions.
There are also claims about a proposed $2,000 “tariff dividend” discussed by President Trump. At this time, this proposal has not been approved by Congress, no legislation has been passed, and no payments are confirmed. Any future program would require congressional action, and details remain uncertain.
Bottom Line
There are no new stimulus checks or IRS relief payments approved for December 2025. Any message, call, email, or social media post claiming otherwise is either misinformation or a scam.
Important Scam Warning
The IRS does not contact taxpayers by text message, email, or social media to offer stimulus payments. Official IRS communication always starts with a mailed letter or notice. Scammers often use fake messages promising stimulus money to steal personal or banking information.
Do not click links, share personal information, or send money to anyone claiming they can “get you” a stimulus check.
